Workers’ Health, Safety, and Pay are Among Casualties of Trump’s War on Regulations

 Feb. 6, 2018 | WAR ON WORKERS | Regulations are simply the rules of the game. Congress passes laws, and then federal agencies set the rules for how those laws are followed. Research shows that federal regulations provide an overall net benefit to the economy and that they have a modestly positive or neutral effect on employment… An examination of the regulations recently repealed or rescinded reveals that many of the rules that were eliminated provided important protections to our nation’s workers. President Trump and congressional Republicans have blocked regulations that protect workers’ pay, safety, and rights to organize and join a union. By blocking these rules, the president and Congress are raising the risks for workers while rewarding companies that put their employees’ health, safety, and paychecks at risk.
